A recurring change point, not a desire for abstraction by itself.
Patterns are most useful when they isolate real volatility. If payment vendors, shipping rules, or post-checkout reactions keep changing independently, a pattern can localize that pressure. If no such pressure exists, the extra abstraction often just adds indirection.
