Java: The Volatile Keyword

Volatile establishes a happens-before relationship.

In the Java Memory Model, declaring a variable as 'volatile' establishes a happens-before relationship between writes to and reads of that variable. This ensures that changes made by one thread to a volatile variable are visible to subsequent reads by other threads. This is critical for ensuring the visibility of updates across threads, preventing stale data issues.
